during my freshman year of college.

Why: Game Bar Hats were not available online and were becoming super popular. We brought them online, allowed clubs and teams to customize them, and beat the bookstore on prices.
Who: Me and my best friend, Ben Glaze.
How: volusion, authorize.net, wholesale partnerships with The Game, viral user acquisition via facebook/email, bootstrapping, SEO, learning css/html/javascript
Fun Fact: Sold the company in 2010. Here is a funny story.

What: Web application that helps you find and visualize real-time trending
locations on Google Maps through Foursquare’s API.
When: August 2010
Why: foursquare app only displays (2) trending locations at a time based on GPS; but I wanted to see what was happenin’ outside of my general area (update: foursquare v3 has solved this issue)
How: jQuery, Google Apps Engine, html/css3, foursquare APIv1, google maps API

What: Tumblr Blog + Internet Meme
When: March 2009-Present
Why: The 90’s were fun and everyone loves reminiscing.
How: tumblr, digging for gold on the interwebs, consistency.
Who: I ran the fy90’s site from 2009-2011 and then joined forces with Raymond Elkins.
Fun fact: We’ve had a cult following on tumblr, recently hitting 50,000 followers
in May of 2011.


What: NYCrandom.ly is like StumbleUpon for the physical world. Web app that helps you discover random museums, cafes, and art galleries in Manhattan while providing the most convenient subway directions.
When: March 2011
Why: a random idea.
How: Google Custom Search API, HTML w/ sammy, .NET, Nginx web server, publicly available datasets from NYC.org and the MTA

Fun fact: We designed, built, and launched the site on a 48 hour self-induced hackathon at dogpatchlabs. We crashed on couches, ate a lot of Num Pang, and downed espressos.
